Healthy exercising

Exercising is and remains healthy and is better for your body than not exercising. The risk of chronic diseases decreases by being more active and doing sports. However, be aware: participating in this event requires effort from your body. Make sensible choices regarding the distance you want to cover and/or the pace you want to set for yourself. We recommend avoiding intense efforts that you are not physically well prepared for. This helps prevent injuries or worse.

Ready for the Great Breweries Marathon?

Have you prepared well over the past weeks and months? Are you sure the challenge you are taking on is achievable? Great. Then stick to your plan. Run smart. Above all, enjoy the course, but don’t let yourself be unnecessarily carried away by others or by the circumstances. Here are some final tips & tricks:

Prepare well

The last days before the event are crucial! Make sure you get enough sleep and eat healthily so your body is in top condition for the challenge ahead. A well-prepared body means more enjoyment during the event!

The importance of a good warm-up

To prevent injuries, it is important to do a proper warm-up.

Stay hydrated

Hydration also helps keep your body in good condition. Drink enough before and during your run. Adequate fluid intake is very important during exercise. However, limit your caffeine intake to recommended levels to avoid overstimulation.

Don’t forget the cool-down

After running, a cool-down is recommended. It is important to bring your heart rate back to normal after intense exercise. Gradually reduce your activity!

Listen to your body

If you don’t feel completely fit beforehand or if you have a fever, it’s better not to start. Exercising with a fever is harmful to your health. Don’t be overly influenced by the crowd and run at the pace you trained for. If at any point you feel unwell, slow down or stop and ask for help if necessary.

ENJOY IT!

This is an achievement you’ve worked towards for a long time. Don’t forget to enjoy the course and let yourself be encouraged by the many supporters along the way!
