On Sunday 8 May, the long awaited fifth edition of the Great Breweries Marathon will take place. Duvel Moortgat, Bosteels Brewery and Palm & De Hoorn Brewery are once again combining forces to serve up a fantastic parcours and delicious beers to runners and walkers. You can now sign up.
In an ideal world, the fifth edition of the Great Breweries Marathon should have been held back in 2020. In 2021, the corona pandemic was once again a spoilsport, but this year it should be all go with the fifth edition of the Great Breweries Marathon.
The ingredients of this unique experience marathon are the same as before the forced break. Three illustrious breweries in the heart of Flanders – Duvel Moortgat, Bosteels Brewery and Palm & De Hoorn Brewery – will throw open their gates for runners and walkers. Participants can choose between 25 km or 42.195 km. Runners and walkers who are going ‘all the way’ and opt for the marathon distance, will be served a quiet and rural parcours that connects the three organising breweries and provinces Antwerp, East Flanders and Flemish Brabant. All parcours details will be announced soon.
What is already set is that the start and finish are by Duvel Moortgat in Breendonk and that you will be able to do tastings at the finish. Along the route, walkers can already have a few sips when visiting the breweries. The race pack of all the Great Breweries Marathon participants will also include a beer package, put together by the three organising breweries.

Experience The Rich History Of Cornet at Diepensteyn Castle

Physical exercise and enjoying a drink in moderation is part of a healthy lifestyle and is good for our morale, as the lockdowns have demonstrated several times. Cornet wants to bring people together and introduce them to our gorgeous beer! For this edition, we have once again included Diepensteyn Castle in the parcours, allowing runners and walkers to experience Cornet’s rich history. After a passage through the brewery, participants will of course be able to taste a Cornet or Cornet Alcohol-free in the courtyard of the brewery. Our colleagues are very keen to welcome the participants of this experience event with open arms again.”
Smiling Participants and Supporters Holding A Kwak Or Tripel Karmeliet Again

Our brewery visits are gradually coming back on stream. The marathon continues to be a magnificent initiative and is, hopefully, the harbinger for a freer existence again. The lockdowns have shown that people have not forgotten our beers, on the contrary. Everybody did some exploring at home and hopefully these fans, like our brewery, have not been sitting still in the meantime. We think that many have become curious to discover the story and brewery behind the beers.
